چکیده

To examine the outcomes of patients treated with combination therapy transarterial ethanol and Lipiodol embolization percutaneous microwave ablation unresectable intermediate to large-sized hepatocellular carcinoma. This an IRB-approved retrospective study. From January 2018- October 2018, 20 (16M, 4 F, ages 51-85, Mean age 67) carcinoma (HCC) solitary lesions less than 6 cm (3.1–6.0 cm, median 4.1 cm) without extrahepatic disease were trans-arterial followed by image-guided ablation. Embolization was performed selectively utilizing emulsion 1:2 concentration Lipiodol. Image-guided 1 week post embolization. Univariable analysis overall survival (OS) progression-free (PFS) through Kaplan-Meier curves log-rank tests. Technical success TAELE MW 100%. Median OS not reached as 16 still living at greater 36 months. 1,2,3 year is 100%, 90% 80% respectively. PFS 12 demonstrated complete response no progression. 80%, 70%, 60% There a statistically significant increase in for < 5 (P< 0.0001). Hepatitis B associated lower 0.05). Location lesion presence cirrhosis did significantly impact or OS. Combination effective method treating large HCC. most when size cm.

Transarterial chemoembolization in combination with percutaneous ablation therapy in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma: a meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND Recent evidence suggests that transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) or a percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) may have a synergistic effect in treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The aim of the current meta-analysis was to identify the survival benefits of TACE combined with percutaneous ablation (PA) therapy (RFA or PEI) for...

Successful treatment of large-size advanced hepatocellular carcinoma by transarterial chemoembolization followed by the combination therapy of percutaneous ethanol-lipiodol injection and radiofrequency ablation.

We report a case of large-size hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) successfully treated with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) followed by the combination therapy of percutaneous ethanol-lipiodol injection and radiofrequency ablation (PELI-RFA) and percutaneous ethanol-lipiodol injection (PELI) therapy. In the present case, the patient had a large-size advanced HCC, 7 cm in diameter, located in...

Combination Therapy of Radiofrequency Ablation and Transarterial Chemoembolization for Unresectable Hepatocellular Carcinoma

The treatment efficacy of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still not promising. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) combined with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for unresectable HCC with a single treatment.Between June 2009 and June 2012, 132 patients who were diagnosed with unresectable HCC and accepted nonsurgical treatmen...

Percutaneous Ethanol Lipiodol Injection Therapy versus Radiofrequency Ablation in Treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

HCC cells are characterized by lipiodol deposition (an ethyl Ester of fatty acid of poppy seed containing 37-39% iodine by weight) and emulsification on cell surface, active uptake of lipiodol and prolonged intra-cellular retention for their life span [3]. For percutaneous ethanol lipiodol injection therapy the mixture of 99.5% ethanol and lipiodol at a ratio 10:1 was used with better results t...

Clinical utility of transarterial infusion chemotherapy using cisplatin-lipiodol emulsion for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma.

BACKGROUND We evaluated the clinical efficacy of transarterial infusion chemotherapy using a cisplatin-lipiodol emulsion for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). PATIENTS AND METHODS Fifty-seven patients with advanced HCC, with no indications for surgical resection or local ablative therapy, such as percutaneous ethanol injection and radiofrequency ablation, were enrolled in this retr...
